*The agricultural industry is needed to provide our food resources. Three things damage these water resources: waste produced by farm animals, pesticides, and fertilizers. Fertilizers seep in to ground water or turn into runoff. Fertilizers are applied to aid growth, and pesticides are chemicals that kill or repel pests. When these are added, they actually contaminate freshwater rivers and streams, and then they harm plants and animals that need freshwater to live.
*Humans pollute the water more that you might think. Our agriculture, sewage, oil spills, wrongful disposal, and multiple other pollutants get into our water on a daily basis.

Human Impact On Water

*The addition of sewage treatment plants is another way that humans are trying to control water quality. There are many townships that don't care about disposal of household waste. Most waste goes into a lake or a pond, if you live near one. If they don't, the waste goes into a septic tank. This waste has the same effect as fertilizers and pesticides, but can also cause diseases.
